The Location

Wooler is a small town located in Northumberland, England.  It lies on the very edge of the Northumberland National Park and Cheviot Hills. The location is very popular with walkers and is referred to as the ”Gateway to the Cheviots”. The town has many shops, pubs, hotels and campsites.

The Cheviot Hills are a range of hills along the English-Scottish border, The Cheviot is the highest hill in the range at 2,674 ft (815 meters). Other notable hills include Windy Gyle, Cushat Law, Hedgehope Hill and Bloodybush Edge. All the hills mentioned are on the English side of the border apart from Windy Glye who’s summit is on the border.

The area surrounding Wooler is packed with activities to get involved in. Walking is one of the main activities people come to Wooler for as the Cheviots and Northumberland National Park offer amazing views and are easily accessible. The Location – Places of Interest

The surrounding area of Northumberland is packed with attractions for those of all ages. Northumberland has more castles than any other county and you could easily spend a few days just wondering around castles such as Alnwick, Chillingham, Dunstanburgh and Bamburgh. Other attractions in the area include Holy Island, The Farne Islands, Cragside and Flodden Field to name but a few.
